The Latin rite Diocese of Can Tho in Vietnam's Mekong Delta was erected as an Apostolic Vicariate in 1955 and elevated to a diocese on 24 November 1960. A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City, its cathedral is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Can Tho.

History
Declared in its present form on November 24, 1960, the diocese of Cần Thơ (Latin: Dioecesis Canthoënsis) spans 13,257 km2 (5,119 sq mi) of Vietnam as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh city. Its cathedral is Sacred Heart Cathedral in Cần Thơ. By 2004 the diocese counted about 176,424 believers (3% of the population), served by 153 priests across 131 parishes.
