The Diocese of Calapan covers eastern Mindoro and was elevated from an apostolic vicariate to a diocese by Pope Leo XIV on March 25, 2026, with Moises Cuevas named its first bishop. It originated as the Apostolic Prefecture of Calapan in 1936 and is suffragan to the Archdiocese of Lipa.
