History
With its seat in Lucena City, the Diocese of Lucena (Latin: Dioecesis Lucenensis) is a Latin Catholic diocese of the Philippines. It was erected in 1950 out of the then Diocese of Lipa as a suffragan of Manila; when Lipa became an archdiocese in 1972, Lucena was reassigned to that new archdiocese. In 1977 the parishes of the island-province of Marinduque were separated from Lucena to form the Diocese of Boac.
