Diocese of Fall River
The Diocese of Fall River has restricted Monsignor Roger J. Landry from public priestly ministry following allegations of violating priest codes of conduct in both the Diocese of Fall River and the Archdiocese of New York. The diocese stated that the allegations do not involve minors.
Monsignor Landry, who resides in New York, serves as the National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in the United States. He has requested a leave of absence from that position. Although he has worked on special assignments outside the diocese since 2015, he remains a priest of the Diocese of Fall River and is under the authority of the local bishop.
The decision to restrict his ministry follows an initial investigation by the Archdiocese of New York and consultations with canonical advisors. The diocese noted that Monsignor Landry is entitled to the presumption of innocence while the investigation continues.
