Image Books, part of the Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group, released the edition in the United States. In the United Kingdom and Australia, the book was published by Enlighten, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

The Yayasan Karakter Anak Papua (YKAP) and the Timika Diocese Commission on Biblical Apostolate held a coordination meeting on September 18, 2026, to prepare for the Pekan Cahaya II 2027 event. Held at the YKAP hall in Timika, the meeting aimed to align visions for competitions planned for the 2027 program. In his remarks during the Mass, Archbishop Giuse Đặng Đức Ngân spoke about the joy of the Phuong Duc community regarding the inauguration of the new building. The Holy Family Apouwo Parish celebrated its 15th anniversary with a Liturgy of the Word at the parish church on Friday, September 18, 2026. Deacon Theodorus B. Iyai, the leader of the parish pastoral team, led the service alongside catechist Herman Magai.

Gregory Popcak has released a free e-book to provide clinical guidance and spiritual support for Catholic women suffering from postpartum depression. The psychologist and EWTN Radio host created the resource to address the mental health needs of new mothers, noting that approximately 1 in 7 women are affected by the condition.

Popcak told the National Catholic Register that the book aims to offer a holistic perspective on healing by combining medical, psychological, relational, and spiritual tools. He noted that people of faith are not immune to mental health problems and emphasized the importance of responding to these struggles in a way that reflects the Catholic view of the person.

A primary focus of the e-book is helping mothers navigate the spiritual guilt that often accompanies mental health struggles after childbirth. Popcak stated that the resource seeks to break the stigma surrounding these symptoms within the Catholic community.

The Bishop of Ban Mê Thuột blessed and inaugurated a new catechism house for Kim Mai Parish during a thanksgiving Mass on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Archbishop Charles Brown presided over a Mass on September 17, 2026, to mark the 75th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Caceres. The celebration took place at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral compound.

During the Mass, Brown, the apostolic nuncio to the Philippines, described the Church as a shared journey where every member is valued. He compared the nature of the Church to a procession or caravan where no one is excluded or unnecessary. Brown noted that this journey includes bishops, priests, families, and lay Catholics. The Diocese of Quy Nhon opened its 2026 priestly training program on September 15, 2026. The training focuses on Pope Leo XIV's Apostolic Exhortation Dilexi Te, centered on the theme of a poor Church for the poor.

The Society of Jesus in Indonesia marked 55 years as an independent province on September 8. The anniversary commemorates the day in 1971 when then-Jesuit Superior General Pedro Arrupe formally established the Indonesian province.

Before achieving provincial status, the Jesuits in Indonesia operated as a vice province. The transition to an independent province was driven by the increasing number of Indonesian Jesuits and the expansion of their apostolic works.

Jesuit historian Hasto Rosariyanto, SJ, stated that there was no specific event or celebration held to mark the 55th anniversary. Rosariyanto, an emeritus lecturer in Church history at Sanata Dharma University in Yogyakarta, also noted that a book intended to commemorate the province's 50th anniversary has not yet been released.

Religious leaders from various faith traditions met on September 15 to pray for Nepal and call for increased climate justice following devastating floods and landslides in the Himalayan region. The interfaith prayer, titled “With Nepal: A Prayer of Solidarity, Healing and Hope,” brought together representatives from Catholicism, Islam, Buddhism, the Bahá’í faith, and the Indigenous Kirat spiritual tradition.

The Laudato Si’ Movement, the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences–Office of Human Development, and Radio Veritas Asia organized the event. Participants included environmental activists and civil society representatives from Nepal, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste.

The gathering responded to the August 26 disasters in the Nepal-Tibet Himalayan region, which caused deaths, disappearances, and damage to infrastructure and transport. Leaders noted that the tragedy reflects an ecological crisis in the Hindu Kush Himalaya region, where glacier retreat and melting permafrost increase the risk of landslides and glacial lake outburst floods.

Saint Louis Hospital in Bangkok marked its 128th anniversary on Sept. 15, celebrating its history as Thailand's first nonprofit private medical center. The anniversary theme, Sending Love, Serving with Heart, highlighted the institution's long-standing mission of providing medical care through charitable service.

Bishop Jean-Louis Vey founded the hospital on Sept. 15, 1898, naming it after Saint Louis, King of France. The bishop assigned the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres to manage the hospital and nursing care. Seven sisters originally traveled from Saigon, Vietnam, to assist with the hospital's early administration.

The hospital now functions as a 412-bed tertiary medical center offering specialized services such as cardiac care, orthopedic and rehabilitation services, diagnostic imaging, and women's and children's health. It also operates the Divine Mercy Centre, which provides palliative and end-of-life care alongside emotional and spiritual support tailored to each patient's tradition. The facility previously hosted Pope John Paul II in 1984 and Pope Francis in 2019.

Bishop Bernardino Ne Ne of Taungngu said the collapse of Myanmar's education system is forcing young people to flee the country or seek lives elsewhere. According to the bishop, ongoing conflict, economic hardship, and insecurity are driving youth to consider moving abroad.

The bishop noted that while many people in the Diocese of Taungngu have been forced from their homes, priests continue to serve their parishes by listening to families and offering comfort. He emphasized that young people are an essential part of the Church today and suggested that pastoral care should involve walking with them and helping them encounter Christ personally.

The Diocese of Taungngu is located in the Bago Region, an area where fighting between the Myanmar military and ethnic armed groups has persisted for decades. Conflict in the region expanded following the February 2021 military coup, bringing airstrikes and military operations to the area. The United Nations estimated that approximately 3.6 million people were internally displaced in Myanmar in 2026.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Sri Lanka met, according to an announcement from the Diocese of Galle.

Bishop Giuse visited and inspected the Lưỡng Quán quasi-parish in the Vĩnh Phúc district on September 17, 2026. He was accompanied by Phêrô Vêrôna Chu Quang Hòa and parish priest Giuse Đỗ Văn Thọ.

Representatives of the quasi-parish presented information regarding local chapel groups, associations, pastoral challenges, and future directions. Bishop Giuse listened to the community's concerns and encouraged members to work together in unity and love to strengthen their faith.

The visit included time for prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. The community concluded the day with an adoration session to pray for the diocese, the Lưỡng Quán quasi-parish, and the bishop's ministry.

Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David of Kalookan urged Congress to pass an anti-political dynasty law following a Supreme Court ruling that lawmakers have a constitutional duty to do so. In a social media post, David told Congress that the Supreme Court has spoken and called for the immediate enactment of the law.

The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the 39-year failure of Congress to pass the law constitutes a grave abuse of discretion and a continuing violation of its constitutional duty. While the 1987 Constitution does not set a specific deadline, it directs the state to prohibit political dynasties as defined by law and to guarantee equal access to public service. The court directed lawmakers to act with utmost urgency and pass the law at the earliest opportunity.

David noted that the mandate has remained unfulfilled because Congress is responsible for defining what constitutes a political dynasty. He questioned if the personal interests of lawmakers might prevent them from passing legislation that restricts political dynasties. The court observed that despite numerous bills being filed since the ratification of the Constitution, political dynasties continue to spread, including within the party-list system.

Former President Rodrigo Duterte appeared in person before the International Criminal Court in The Hague on Sept. 16 for a status hearing. The 81-year-old faces three counts of crimes against humanity, with prosecutors alleging his involvement in at least 76 murders between 2013 and 2018 during an anti-drug campaign. While Duterte did not speak during the hearing, which lasted one hour and 15 minutes, he remained in the courtroom and waved to the public gallery after the judge left.

Father Flavie L. Villanueva, SVD, reacted to the appearance on social media by calling for accountability and justice for those killed during the former president's campaign. Villanueva described the appearance as the resurfacing of evil and stated that there was blood on Duterte's hands.

Judge Joanna Korner noted that this was Duterte's first in-person appearance, as he had previously appeared via video link or missed hearings due to reported illness. The hearing also addressed a dispute regarding the volume of evidence, with prosecutors citing approximately 15,000 pieces of material. Judge Korner scheduled the start of Duterte's trial for Nov. 30.

Father Andrew Kim shared his missionary experiences with the Serra Club of Hong Kong during their monthly meeting at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Sept. 15. A priest of the Korean Missionary Society (KMS) and parish priest at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, Kim spoke about the difficulties of adapting to new cultures and the evolution of the South Korean Church.

The Korean Missionary Society was established in 1975 by Bishop John A. Choi Jae-seon, bishop emeritus of Busan. For many years, the Catholic faith in South Korea relied on foreign missionary groups such as Maryknoll, the Paris Foreign Missions Society, and the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions. The creation of KMS transitioned the South Korean Church from a receiving church to a sharing church.

KMS has sent nearly 90 missionaries to Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas. In East Asia, KMS priests serve in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, where they live with local parish communities, learn local languages, and assist with diocesan ministries.

The Indonesian Catholic Scholars Association (ISKA) established 10 strategic priorities during its 17th National Congress held from Sept. 11 to 13 in Balikpapan and the Nusantara Capital City. Delegates addressed challenges including democracy, economic inequality, artificial intelligence, technological transformation, and the ecological crisis.

Luky A. Yusgiantoro was re-elected by unanimous vote as chairman of the ISKA Central Presidium for the 2026–2030 term. Yusgiantoro previously led the organization from 2022 to 2026. He stated that while ISKA is not a political organization, it has a responsibility to prepare competent Catholic members to serve in various fields, including politics.

The congress opened with a Mass led by Archbishop Yustinus Hardjosusanto, MSF of Samarinda. Among the adopted priorities is the strengthening of Pancasila as a public ethic.

Bishop Giuse Đỗ Quang Khang visited Hữu Bằng Parish in the Vĩnh Phúc district on September 16, 2026. The visit to the Bac Ninh Diocese parish allowed the bishop to meet with the local community to discuss their faith life and pastoral activities.

During the visit, parish priest Francis Xavier Nguyễn Đức Đại presented an overview of the parish, including its current successes, challenges, and future goals. Representatives from the Hữu Bằng Parish Pastoral Council also reported on the community's spiritual life and activities. The priest also submitted parish documents and records to the bishop for review.

Bishop Khang listened to the concerns and opinions of the parishioners and offered pastoral advice. He encouraged the community to work together in unity and generosity to strengthen the parish.

The Punalur Diocese Laity Commission organized a one-day training program for members of the Laity Ministry Committee on September 12, 2026, at St. Xavier's Animation Centre in Pathanapuram. Seventy-six representatives from various parishes in the diocese attended the event.

Bishop Sylvester Ponnumuthan inaugurated the program. Rev. Dr. Gregory R.B. led sessions on servant leadership, the vision of the Church through the Second Vatican Council, and emotional intelligence, while Brother Idukki Thankachan and Sr. Faustina SPR also conducted classes.

The Diocese of Punalur officially installed several new leaders during a midday prayer service at the Bishop’s House on October 11, 2026. Bishop Selvister Ponnumuthan led the ceremony, which was attended by Bishop Emeritus Stanley Roman and various diocesan priests.

Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica humanitas connects the sorrow of Our Lady to the challenges of the modern digital era. In the concluding meditation of the document, the Pope describes Mary's Magnificat as a song of hope that is inseparable from the personal cost she endured.

The Pope suggests that current technological systems often measure human worth through efficiency, productivity, and predictability. He contrasts these algorithmic standards, which focus on engagement and monetization, with the biblical promise that God measures worth on a different scale than the world.

Cardinal William Goh urged Catholics to link environmental protection with the defense of vulnerable people as the Church in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei enters the second year of its regional creation-care campaign. Speaking at a Mass to open the 2026 Season of Creation at Novena Church in Singapore on August 30, the cardinal stated that protecting the earth is inseparable from protecting human life.

The cardinal noted that care for creation must extend beyond forests, wildlife, and the climate to include the protection of human dignity and the common good. He argued that environmental and social issues, such as war and the killing of vulnerable people, should be addressed together. Citing Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’, Goh said humans are entrusted with stewardship to build up rather than destroy creation.

Goh also told the 1,500 attendees that responsibility for environmental damage belongs to consumers as well as political and economic powers, noting that the pursuit of convenience and comfort contributes to the problem. The Mass included approximately 80 delegates from the Episcopal Commission for Creation Justice of Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.

Pope Leo XIV appointed Sister Alessandra Smerilli, F.M.A., as the prefect of the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. As an Italian Salesian sister, Smerilli becomes the first woman to lead this major Vatican office.

This appointment follows previous changes in Church governance, such as Pope Francis appointing women to advisory bodies like the Dicastery for Bishops and the International Theological Commission. Additionally, Sister Nathalie Becquart previously became the first woman with voting rights as under-secretary of the Synod of Bishops. These shifts reflect a broader movement within the global Church to involve the baptized, including lay leaders and religious sisters, in its active life and governance.

The Virgo Transport 8 capsized in the Java Sea on September 13 while traveling from Surabaya to Banjarmasin, leaving 129 people missing. The vessel was carrying 213 passengers and 30 crew members when it lost contact with its shipping company shortly after departure.

Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency, Basarnas, reported that six people died and 108 were rescued alive as of September 15. Local search and rescue head I Putu Sudayana stated that high swells and waves prevented rescuers from evacuating 22 survivors to Trisakti Port on September 14. Those survivors and four bodies were eventually brought to a harbor in Banjarmasin on September 15.

This incident marks the third deadly maritime disaster in the Java Sea in just over a month. It follows the sinking of the tanker MT Elisabet on August 21, which left five crew members missing, and a fire on the KMP Mutiara Sentosa 2 on August 2 that killed five people.

Father Joseph Susanto told bishops and priests at the XV Unindo National Conference in Pematangsiantar that digital ministry must move beyond screens to include real actions of compassion. Speaking at the Catholic Center in the Archdiocese of Medan on September 15, 2026, the priest, who uses YouTube for ministry, argued that being known in digital spaces does not automatically make someone an evangelist.

Father Joseph stated that spirituality must serve as the root of digital ministry and that teaching provides content and direction. He noted that these elements are incomplete without concrete actions for others, as the digital world should not be viewed as separate from real life.

Paroki Keluarga Kudus Apouwo parishioners held a community cleaning day on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, to prepare for the parish's 15th anniversary. The event is part of the Parish Feast Day celebrations that began on September 9.

The cleaning work included tidying the rectory, the church grounds, and the interior of the church. Participants used tools such as shovels, machetes, brooms, and mops to pull weeds, clean windows, and sweep the area. Cardinal Jose Advincula of Manila released a 340-page book of his homilies during a Mass at Manila Cathedral on Sept. 15, 2026. The volume, titled Audiam: A Listening Heart for a Synodal Church, compiles sermons delivered during his five years of ministry as the archbishop of Manila.

The book features a foreword by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the former archbishop of Manila who currently serves as pro-prefect of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Evangelization. The title is taken from Advincula’s episcopal motto, which translates from Latin as I will listen.

Archbishop Charles Brown, the apostolic nuncio to the Philippines, said the collection provides a way for readers to encounter the cardinal's pastoral voice through his written words. During the launch, Advincula presented a copy of the book to Archbishop Gilbert Garcera, the president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines.

Bishop Giuse Đỗ Quang Khang visited Đồng Cờ Parish on September 14, 2026, to meet with the community and review the parish's faith life and pastoral activities.

During the visit, parish priest Francis Xavier Nguyễn Văn Hoàn presented an overview of the parish, including its current strengths, challenges, and future pastoral directions. Leaders from the Nhà xứ and Khả Do communities also reported on the faith life and activities of their respective groups. Stasi St. Fransiskus Asisi Hawadi Toubaikebo in the West Mapia District launched a fundraising campaign to build the Aula St. Fransiskus Asisi on September 14, 2026. The opening included a prayer service and a ceremonial first kick-off led by the parish priest and the West Mapia District Head.

The hall is intended to serve as a center for spiritual activities, meetings, and training for OMK throughout the area. Yohanes Tebai is leading the fundraising committee.

The parish priest blessed the committee, participants, and the soccer and volleyball fields with holy water. West Mapia District Head Fransiskus Tebai attended the event and encouraged residents of the district to participate in the fundraising efforts.

Parishes and groups within the Diocese of Bac Ninh are assisting with the relocation of Nha Tinh Thuong Huong La. Following a call from priests, volunteers are helping dismantle the old facility and move children to temporary housing.

The relocation involves heavy labor such as removing roofs, dismantling steel frames, and transporting essential items. Volunteers from the Cathedral Parish, Lai Te, Bao Son, Thuong Le, An Trang, Ben Xay, Ngo Khe, and Tien Luc, along with migrants from Thai Binh and various local groups, have provided tools like cranes, cutters, and welding machines. Others have assisted by providing clean water or arranging transportation.

The work requires extra care when moving children with disabilities, including those with cerebral palsy who must remain in place during transit. Volunteers are helping move beds, wheelchairs, and daily necessities to ensure the children can settle into their new residence.

Natasa Govekar, director of the theological-pastoral department of the Dicastery for Communication, told Catholic digital missionaries to act as leaders of communion rather than online influencers. Speaking at the first Asian Catholic Digital Missionary Assembly on September 11, 2026, at the Radio Veritas Asia headquarters in Quezon City, Govekar urged participants to prioritize relationship building and collaboration.

Govekar stated that Christian influence is not measured by audience size or follower counts. She said digital missionaries must work together as a community instead of as individuals. She noted that communication is the giving of self in love and that Christ is the perfect communicator.

Govekar explained that Catholic digital communication should help people encounter and live the Gospel instead of just attracting online attention. She said fruitfulness comes from daring to share vision and hope.

St. Xavier’s College held a one-day workshop titled “Eat Right for a Better Life” to mark National Nutrition Week. The Department of Biotechnology at the college organized the event alongside the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration of the Government of Goa to teach students how to make informed food choices.

During the workshop, Officiating Principal Ursula Barreto encouraged participants to eat local and seasonal foods, maintain balanced meal timings, and practice mindful eating. Chief Guest Dorothy Pereira, a food safety and hygiene manager at Taj Hotels, advised attendees to follow traditional food habits and prioritize seasonal produce.

The program included technical sessions led by Pereira and nutrition expert Ishana Hameed. Pereira taught participants how to use the FoSCoS website to detect and report food safety violations, while Hameed discussed healthy living and adaptive exercise.
