Bishop Alfonso Raimo makes his entrance in Amelia Cathedral
Bishop Alfonso Raimo entered the Co-cathedral of Santa Fermina in Amelia on the afternoon of October 25. The entrance ceremony began in Piazza Matteotti, where the mayor of Amelia, Avio Proietti Scorsoni, joined regional councilor Laura Pernazza, local mayors, civil and military authorities, and representatives of the local districts to welcome the bishop.
A procession carried the bishop to the co-cathedral. Upon arrival, Raimo kissed a crucifix held by Father Antonino De Santis, sprinkled the faithful with holy water, and prayed at the tomb of the Servant of God, Monsignor Vincenzo Lojali.
During the liturgy, Raimo stated that Amelia can maintain its history and identity while remaining a full part of the diocese. He noted that local traditions and the memory of its saints serve as a gift to the entire diocese. He specifically mentioned the legacy of Monsignor Lojali, a former bishop of Amelia whose remains are located in the co-cathedral. The celebration included priests from the Amelia and Valle Teverina vicariates and music from the Amelia and Valle Teverina choir.
