Camden resident recognized for being ‘eyes and ears’ of Sacred Heart

Catholic Charities of South Jersey named Lorna Davis a 2026 Disciple of Mercy. Davis, a part-time assistant at Sacred Heart Parish and Sacred Heart School in Camden, was nominated for the award by parish pastor Father Vince Guest.

Davis coordinates the parish Food Sharing program, which provides food and clothing to more than 100 people on the fourth Saturday of every month. To ensure neighbors receive assistance, she distributes pamphlets throughout the community the week before the program and personally delivers food bags to those who cannot attend. She also helps manage the school lunch program to assist hungry children.

Beyond these roles, Davis assists with the annual Christmas Basket and Toy Store program and accepts furniture donations at her home. Father Guest, who has known Davis for over 20 years, noted her long-standing respect within the local community.
