Cardinal Cupich to present Nostra Aetate Award to Michael J. Sacks

Cardinal Blase Cupich will present the Nostra Aetate Award to Michael J. Sacks on October 29 during a gala for Mundelein Seminary. The event, held at the IBEW Local 134 venue in Chicago, serves to raise funds for the education of future priests. Cardinal Cupich and Mundelein Seminary rector John Kartje are scheduled to be the primary speakers.

Sacks, the chairman and chief executive of the investment firm GCM Grosvenor, was named the recipient following a report by Crain’s Chicago Business on September 29. That report identified Sacks as a donor to initiatives intended to strengthen abortion access infrastructure in Illinois and offset federal funding cuts for reproductive health services. These efforts have supported organizations such as the Chicago Abortion Fund and Planned Parenthood of Illinois. The Prairie State Access Fund, which involves the Michael Reese Health Trust, announced in March that it began distributing its first million dollars in grants.
