Umbrian bishops assign new pastoral roles and secretary

The Umbrian Episcopal Conference met in Assisi on October 26 to assign new pastoral roles and a secretary following recent episcopal appointments. Bishop Luciano Paolucci Bedini, bishop of Città di Castello and Gubbio, is the new secretary of the conference, succeeding Bishop Francesco Antonio Soddu.

Bishop Felice Accrocca, the new bishop of Assisi-Nocera Umbra-Gualdo Tadino, is the new delegate for the pastoral area of Evangelization and Liturgy, which includes the regional commissions for Catechesis, Liturgy, Missions, Ecumenism, and Interreligious Dialogue.

Bishop Alfonso Raimo, the new bishop of Terni-Narni-Amelia, is the new delegate for the pastoral area of Carità and Salute. This includes the Delegazione Caritas Umbria, the Fondazione Contro l’Usura, and the regional commissions for Salute and Sociale.

These changes follow the appointment of Bishop Accrocca to succeed Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino, who resigned due to age, and the appointment of Bishop Raimo to succeed Bishop Soddu, who was called by Pope Leo XIV to lead the Archdiocese of Sassari. During the meeting, bishops also expressed solidarity with conference president Bishop Renato Boccardo regarding recent social media attacks.
