Inaugural edition of Sheen Awards honors Mother Angelica
The inaugural Sheen Awards honored Mother Angelica posthumously during an event in Peoria, Illinois, on Sept. 25. The ceremony took place one day after the beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
Mother Angelica, the foundress of Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), received the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Lifetime Achievement Award for her service to the Church and her use of television to proclaim the Gospel. Peter Gagnon, president of EWTN Studios, accepted the award on her behalf.
