Lira Diocese trains 53 Parish Communicators

Lira Diocese trained 53 parish social communicators in basic journalism skills on Friday, October 16, 2026, to improve news gathering and information flow from parishes to diocesan media platforms. The training took place at the Radio Wa premises in Lira City and included both newly appointed communicators and existing staff attending refresher sessions.

Rev. Fr. Isaac Ojok, the diocesan social communications secretary and human resource manager of Radio Wa, facilitated the session alongside Radio Wa news editor Pelegrine Otonga. Fr. Ojok explained the responsibilities of these communicators, who are appointed by parish priests to report on local activities and development projects through the Church's media institutions.

Fr. Ojok encouraged participants to identify and accurately report newsworthy developments within their communities. He noted that the diocese plans to hold another training session in November for parishes that did not participate in this session.
