Museo Diocesano di Siedlce to host 12 masterpieces
The Diocesan Museum of Siedlce has opened an art exhibition titled "Patron Saints of Daily Life: Great Saints for Today." The display features 12 masterpieces, including a rare painting by El Greco depicting the ecstasy of Saint Francis.
Co-curator Professor Jerzy Miziołek of the University of Warsaw stated that the selected works align with the mystical spirit of Saint Francis, whose death is being commemorated this year on its 800th anniversary. The collection includes an image of Saint Bonaventure and works by Guercino and Sebastiano Concha. Other featured pieces include a tondo by Luca Signorelli, paintings of the visions of Saint John the Apostle, and a lesser-known image of Christ by El Greco.
The exhibition includes works from various churches in Poland, Spain, and Italy and is accompanied by a catalog. The show remains open to the public until December 15, 2026.
