Savannah Bananas to play at Notre Dame in June 2027

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Savannah Bananas will play two games at the University of Notre Dame in June 2027, including the first baseball game ever held at Notre Dame Stadium.

The festivities begin June 24 at Frank Eck Stadium, with the second game scheduled for June 26 at Notre Dame Stadium. To accommodate the Banana Ball format, the university will construct two baseball diamonds in opposite corners of the football stadium, where teams will rotate between them every inning.

Lee Sicinski, the executive director of university events at Notre Dame, said the university expects 80,000 fans for the game at Notre Dame Stadium. Mike Seamon, vice president for university operations, events and safety, described the event as a historic moment for the campus. The Banana Ball style features singing, dancing players, and unconventional rules.
