Sister Edna’s Legacy Has a New Address
Presentation Academy students traveled to Las Flores, Belize, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 9, 2026, to build a home for a local family in honor of Sister Edna Fabre. The project, organized through Nazareth Volunteer Ministry, connected the students with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and a community connection spanning nearly 200 years.
The students worked alongside local partners and community members to complete the house for Javier and his wife, Ana, and their children, Jose and Deisy. Javier, a landscaping and construction worker, had previously volunteered his time to build houses for other families while his own family continued to rent a home.
Sister Amina Bejos led the group and provided spiritual guidance, while Johna Fortener accompanied the students. Before the trip, the group attended a commissioning Mass at Nazareth on Sept. 20, where Sister Amina read the names of the participants. The project honors Sister Edna, whose years of service at Presentation Academy shaped many students' lives.
