Students fill Cathedral for All Diocesan Schools Rosary
Bishop Earl Fernandes led more than 200 students, parents, and staff in the third annual All Diocesan Schools Rosary at Columbus St. Joseph Cathedral on Thursday. The gathering honored Our Lady of the Rosary and included representatives from 40 schools across the 23-county diocese.
Participants prayed the Luminous Mysteries, which include reflections on Christ’s baptism, the wedding at Cana, the proclamation of the kingdom, the Transfiguration, and the institution of the Eucharist. While schools were encouraged to send two student representatives, some sent as many as 45. Represented schools ranged from Cristo Rey Columbus High School near the cathedral to Tuscarawas Junior/Senior High School in New Philadelphia.
The event included music from Dr. Richard Fitzgerald, the diocesan director of music, and songs from the Lancaster St. Mary of the Assumption School student choir. To include families throughout the diocese, the rosary was live streamed to Catholic schools and broadcast on St. Gabriel Radio.
