Pope Leo XIV receives Association of Lay Vatican Employees and Association of Women in Vatican
Pope Leo XIV met with representatives from the Association of Lay Vatican Employees and the Association of Women in the Vatican on October 5, 2026. During the audience at the Apostolic Palace, the pope thanked the members for their service to various agencies of the Apostolic See and their collaboration with his pastoral ministry.
The pope addressed modern challenges in the workforce, specifically noting the developments in artificial intelligence. He urged workers to maintain focus on the irreplaceable importance of the human person and the inalienable dignity of labor. He described work not as a mere tool, but as a way to express human dignity, support families, and contribute to the common good.
To build a work community where people are not used or ignored, the pope encouraged a path of dialogue and listening. He noted that while the two associations are distinct, they share the same working environment within the Vatican.
