St. Augustine Catholic Church & Student Center

St. Augustine Catholic Church & Student Center is located in Gainesville, Florida. Founded in 1923 as Crane Hall, it was dedicated on May 28th of that year by Bishop Patrick Barry of St. Augustine. The hall served as both a residence and chapel for Catholic students attending the University of Florida. In 1943, a temporary wooden chapel was built, which was later replaced in 1958 with a new building dedicated on December 13th, 1959. Named after St. Augustine, this structure now seats 925 people and includes meeting halls, offices, and a residence for priests. The church has grown significantly over the years to serve approximately 10,000 Catholic students at the university annually.
