St. Monica Catholic Church
Palatka, FL
St. Monica Catholic Church is located at 114 South 4th Street in Palatka, Florida. The third oldest Catholic Parish in the St. Augustine Diocese, it has a rich history dating back to the 1850s when it was one of many mission stations administered by "horseback priests." The church has served a diverse community, including Irish, German, and Spanish immigrants. It suffered during the Civil War but expanded after the freeze crisis in 1894. The current brick structure was blessed in 1897 and remains the site of worship today.
