History
On the shores of Lake Awasa in the Great Rift Valley of central Ethiopia, the Kidane Mehret Cathedral in the city of Awasa serves as the episcopal see of the Apostolic Vicariate of Awasa (Latin: Vicariatus Apostolicus Avasanus). The vicariate is exempt, belonging to no ecclesiastical province and depending directly on the Holy See, notably the Roman missionary Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
