History
Northern Alabama in the United States is served by the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, erected in 1969 as a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Mobile. The Cathedral of Saint Paul in Birmingham is its mother church, and the diocese is home to EWTN, a major Catholic media enterprise.
