The Archdiocese of Atlanta is a Latin Church metropolitan archdiocese covering 69 counties of north and central Georgia, founded as a diocese in 1956 and elevated to an archdiocese in 1962. It is the metropolitan see of the Province of Atlanta and is led by Archbishop Gregory J. Hartmayer.
