Mons. Adolfo Bittschi announces funeral details for Mons. Ricardo Centellas
Bishop Adolfo Bittschi, auxiliary bishop emeritus of the Archdiocese of Sucre, announced the funeral arrangements for Archbishop Ricardo Centellas following his sudden death. Archbishop Centellas fell ill during an academic event at the Universidad Católica Boliviana and was taken to a hospital in Oruro, where medical staff were unable to revive him, according to Bittschi. The body is currently located in the grotto of the chapel of Madre Nazaria Ignacia in Oruro, where a wake is scheduled for tonight. Following legal procedures, the body is expected to arrive in Sucre this Friday. A first Mass was scheduled for 20:00 today at the Cathedral, presided over by Mons. Edmundo. Official funeral rites and a Mass with the body present will take place on Tuesday morning at the Sucre Cathedral. The burial is expected to occur at the same cathedral, following the tradition of interring archbishops in that location.
