  Bishop Gilson Andrade celebrated 15 years of episcopal ministry during a Thanksgiving Mass at the Santo Antônio de Jacutinga Cathedral on September 24. • Diocese de Nova Iguaçu holds Assembleia Diocesana

  The Diocese of Nova Iguaçu held the second stage of its 2026 Diocesan Assembly on Saturday, September 19, at the Centro de Formação de Líderes (Cenfor). The meeting brought together priests, deacons, religious men and women, and lay representatives to continue developing a new diocesan pastoral plan. Participants evaluated the diocese's recent progress, reviewed the draft of the new pastoral plan, and established goals and schedules for upcoming mission paths. This stage follows an initial meeting in May that focused on community discernment. During the opening, Bishop Gilson Andrade used the parable of the sower to describe the assembly's purpose. He stated that mission comes from God's initiative rather than just Church structures and that members serve as collaborators to help the Word produce fruit. The bishop also noted existing pastoral successes in parishes, including catechesis and the Eucharistic Congress.

• Dom Gregório Paixão participates in national education meeting
