History

Part of the civil province of Alberta belongs to the Diocese of Saint Paul in Alberta (Latin: Dioecesis Sancti Pauli in Alberta), a Latin Church see and a suffragan within the province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Edmonton. Gary Anthony Franken was appointed its bishop on September 15, 2022, succeeding Paul Terrio. As of 2018 the diocese counted 20 parishes and 21 missions, roughly 104,000 Catholics, 18 active diocesan priests, 6 religious priests, 8 permanent deacons, and 13 women religious.
