Aysen is a Latin Church apostolic vicariate in southern Chile, immediately subject to the Holy See, established as an apostolic prefecture in 1940 and elevated to an apostolic vicariate in 1955, entrusted to the Servite Order. It has been led by Vicar Apostolic Bishop Luigi Infanti della Mora, O.S.M., since 1999.

History

A missionary territory of the Latin Church in Chile, the Apostolic Vicariate of Aysén (Latin: Vicariatus Apostolicus Aysenensis) began as an apostolic prefecture, established on 17 February 1940 by Pope Pius XII, and was raised to apostolic vicariate on 8 May 1955. Mgr. Luigi Infanti della Mora, O.S.M. currently serves as its bishop (Vicar Apostolic).
