Latin-rite metropolitan archdiocese seated at Medellin, Colombia's second city, in the Antioquia department. It was erected as a diocese on 14 February 1868 from the Diocese of Antioquia and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese on 24 February 1902. Its seat is the Metropolitan Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Medellin.

Medellín, in Colombia, is the seat of this archdiocese, known in Latin as Archidioecesis Medellensis and in Spanish as Arquidiócesis de Medellín. Its current archbishop is Ricardo Antonio Tobón Restrepo.

    Archdiocese of Medellín holds meeting of parish communicators Nearly 80 people attended the Archdiocesan Meeting of Parish Communicators on September 19 at the Salazar y Herrera University Institution. The event provided training and reflection on the mission of communicating within the Church through three workshops focused on creativity, storytelling, and oral and physical expression. Lida Losada Castro, the communications coordinator for the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, gave the central talk. She encouraged communicators to undergo five conversions: moving from merely publishing to communicating with purpose, from listing activities to announcing God's work, from addressing general audiences to meeting specific people, from working in isolation to working as an articulated Church, and from measuring reactions to evaluating communication impact. Castro stated that communication is a concrete way to participate in the Church's mission by listening, accompanying, and making God's actions visible. The meeting ended with Mass led by Father Juan Ricardo González, the rector of the San Juan Pablo II Seminary.
