Pope Leo XIV publishes Apostolic Letter “Diseñar nuevos mapas de esperanza”
Pope Leo XIV published an apostolic letter titled “Diseñar nuevos mapas de esperanza” to address a deep global crisis in education. The document, released on October 27, 2025, examines how technological changes, global conflicts, cultural and moral disorientation, and fragile social bonds make modern teaching more difficult and urgent. The Pope suggests that instead of lamenting these challenges, educators must create new ways to transmit faith, culture, and wisdom. The Archdiocese of Medellín noted the letter's relevance as the Pontificia Universidad Bolivariana and the Escuela Normal Superior Antioqueña celebrate their anniversary. Both schools were founded on September 15, 1936, by Archbishop Tiberio Salazar Herrera.

Archdiocese of Medellín holds meeting of parish communicators
Archdiocese of Medellín holds meeting of parish communicators Nearly 80 people attended the Archdiocesan Meeting of Parish Communicators on September 19 at the Salazar y Herrera University Institution. The event provided training and reflection on the mission of communicating within the Church through three workshops focused on creativity, storytelling, and oral and physical expression. Lida Losada Castro, the communications coordinator for the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, gave the central talk. She encouraged communicators to undergo five conversions: moving from merely publishing to communicating with purpose, from listing activities to announcing God's work, from addressing general audiences to meeting specific people, from working in isolation to working as an articulated Church, and from measuring reactions to evaluating communication impact. Castro stated that communication is a concrete way to participate in the Church's mission by listening, accompanying, and making God's actions visible. The meeting ended with Mass led by Father Juan Ricardo González, the rector of the San Juan Pablo II Seminary.
