History
Founded on 11 December 1881, the Diocese of Colima (Latin: Dioecesis Colimensis) is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Guadalajara. On Monday, November 11, 2013, Pope Francis appointed Marcelino Hernández Rodríguez, until then Bishop of the Diocese of Orizaba (seated in Orizaba, Mexico), to lead Colima. He succeeded Bishop José Luis Amezcua Melgoza, who had offered his resignation upon reaching the customary age of 75.
