History

In Moravskoslezský kraj, Moravia, in the Czech Republic, the Diocese of Ostrava-Opava (Latin: Ostraviensis-Opaviensis) serves as a suffragan Latin diocese within the province of the Archdiocese of Olomouc. Its episcopal seat is the Katedrála Božského Spasitele in Ostrava, dedicated to the Divine Saviour; the diocese also has a Co-Cathedral, the Co-Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Opava, and a Minor Basilica, the Basilica of the Visitation of Our Lady in Frýdek-Místek.
