History
With its episcopal see in the city of Dundo, this Latin Catholic diocese in Angola (Latin: Dioecesis Dundensis) is a suffragan within the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Saurímo. In 2016 it counted 366,700 baptised among 800,000 inhabitants. Bishop Estanislau Marques Chindekasse S.V.D. governs the diocese.

Catholic bishops in Angola have proposed a pastoral approach that addresses the specific realities of the African continent. Speaking at the Third International Biblical Symposium in Luanda on September 17, Bishop Estanislau Marques Chindekasse of the Diocese of Dundo called for a deep pastoral conversion. Bishop Chindekasse, who serves as vice president of the Bishops' Conference of Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, said the Church must combine listening to the Word of God and celebrating faith with practical service to those in need. He identified four types of hunger affecting people in Africa: material hunger for food, spiritual hunger for meaning, cultural hunger for identity, and social hunger for justice and dignity. He stated that the Church must respond to these needs by considering the whole person. The symposium took place at the Michael Kennedy Auditorium of the Catholic University of Angola.
