History
Known until 1927 as the Diocese of Borgo San Donnino, the Diocese of Fidenza (Latin: Dioecesis Fidentina) is a Latin diocese of the Catholic Church in the Province of Parma, Italy. Though long subject historically to the Archdiocese of Bologna, it is today a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Modena-Nonantola. The bishop's episcopal seat is the Cathedral of San Donnino Martire in Fidenza, and the diocese also holds a Minor Basilica, the Basilica di San Lorenzo in Monticelli d'Ongina, granted that honor on 9 January 1942.
