It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Liverpool, with its seat at the Cathedral Church of St Marie in Sheffield. The see is currently vacant (sede vacante), administered by Bishop Marcus Stock as apostolic administrator.

History
The Diocese of Hallam (Latin: Dioecesis Hallamensis) serves the Catholic Church in England as a Latin Church diocese. Its boundaries take in the Metropolitan County of South Yorkshire, including Sheffield with the surrounding towns of Rotherham, Doncaster, and Barnsley, along with the district of Bassetlaw in Nottinghamshire, and in North Derbyshire the communities of Bamford, Chesterfield, Clowne, Dronfield, Eckington, Hathersage, and Staveley. It stands as a suffragan see in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Liverpool.
