The Chaldean Catholic Archeparchy of Kirkuk-Sulaimaniya in northern Iraq succeeds the ancient see of Karka d'Beth Slokh; a stable Chaldean diocese of Kirkuk was established in 1826. In July 2013 the Eparchy of Sulaimaniya was united with Kirkuk to form the present archeparchy. Archbishop Yousif Thomas Mirkis, O.P., has led the see since 2014.

History
Dating from the early years of the nineteenth century, the Chaldean Catholic Archeparchy of Kirkuk (Arabic: ابرشية كركوك الكلدانية) is an archeparchy of the Chaldean Catholic Church in communion with the Pope in Rome. Archbishop Yousif Thomas Mirkis, its present ordinary, was consecrated in 2014.
