History

Suffragan to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lilongwe, the Diocese of Karonga (in Latin: Dioecesis Karongana) lies in the Northern region of Malawi and takes in a considerable share of that landlocked South Eastern African country, which covers roughly 118,000 km2. As of 2010 the diocese numbered 61,000 baptized Catholics within a population of 400,000. Martin Anwel Mtumbuka serves as its current bishop.
