History
Based in the Mexican city of Papantla, Veracruz, the Diocese of Papantla (Latin: Dioecesis Papantlensis) was erected on 24 November 1922 and belongs to the province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Xalapa. In 1962 it gave up territory, alongside the Dioceses of Huejutla, Tulancingo and Tampico, for the creation of the Diocese of Tuxpan.
