The Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu is the Latin Catholic metropolitan see covering western Sabah in East Malaysia. It was erected as a diocese in 1976 and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese in 2008, with Keningau and Sandakan as suffragans.

History
In Sabah, Malaysia, on the island of Borneo, the Catholic Church is led by the metropolitan Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu (Latin: Archdioecesis Kotakinabaluensis; Malay: Keuskupan Agung Kota Kinabalu; Mandarin: 哥打京那巴鲁总教区). No ecclesiastical territory in Malaysia is older; it climbed gradually from a prefecture to an archdiocese as its Catholic population grew. Its archiepiscopal seat is Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kota Kinabalu, and it keeps St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as its patron.
