  • Cardinal Tobin Establishes Parish Mission Renewal Office

    Cardinal Joseph W. Tobin has established a Parish Mission Renewal Office to support the We Are His Witnesses initiative within the Archdiocese of Newark. The office will assist parish communities in finding ways to collaborate, strengthen their shared mission, and serve the faithful more effectively. The office will initially focus on parishes involved in the Parish Mission Partners phase of the multiyear initiative. According to Cardinal Tobin, the office will provide consistent and practical support to help parishes adopt a more missionary approach to parish life through an ongoing process of prayer, listening, and action. The We Are His Witnesses program launched in June 2025 to guide the archdiocese toward pastoral conversion. Inspired by the apostolic exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, the initiative encourages parishes to reimagine their ministry and mission to respond to a changing world.

    The Archdiocese of Newark is inviting parish adult faith formation leaders and catechists to a meeting on Thursday, October 1. The gathering, organized by the Office of Lifelong Faith Formation, provides a space for prayer, fellowship, and discussion about ministry. Participants can attend in person at 10 a.m. at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center or join virtually at 7:30 p.m. The meeting intends to help leaders share new ideas and address common challenges and opportunities within their parishes.
