Latin rite diocese covering the Tacna and Moquegua regions of far southern Peru, erected 18 December 1944 from the Archdiocese of Arequipa as the Diocese of Tacna and renamed Tacna y Moquegua on 11 July 1992. A suffragan of Arequipa, its seat is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary in Tacna with the Co-Cathedral of St. Catherine in Moquegua.

Covering the lay administrative regions of Tacna Region and Moquegua region in southern Peru, the Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua (Latin: Dioecesis Tacnensis et Moqueguensis) serves as a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Arequipa.

Diocese of Tacna y Moquegua to bless pets and plants on September 27
Parishes in the Diocese of Tacna y Moquegua will hold special blessings for pets and plants to honor St. Francis of Assisi. These events aim to encourage reflection on the Christian responsibility to care for creation. The Señor de los Milagros Franciscan Parish in Tacna will host the blessing for pets and plants on September 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the parish atrium. The event will include the parish community, apostolic movements, religious dancers, and members of the Hermandad del Señor de los Milagros. Additionally, the Santa María de los Ángeles Parish in Ilo will hold a pet blessing on Sunday, October 4, at 8:00 a.m. near the parish temple in front of the Plaza de la Bandera. This session is open to all families wishing to bring their companion animals for a blessing.

Diocese of Tacna y Moquegua celebrates Nuestra Señora del Rosario
The Diocese of Tacna y Moquegua will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the patroness of the diocese, with a novena and various liturgical events. The novena is scheduled to run from September 28 to October 6 at the Tacna Cathedral. During the novena, the community will gather for the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Holy Mass at 5:30 p.m. each day. On the eve of the feast, October 6, a serenade will be held at 6:30 p.m. following the evening prayers and Mass. The solemnity will take place on October 7, beginning with a festive Eucharist at 5:00 p.m. Bishop Marco Antonio Cortez Lara will preside over the central Mass. The celebration will conclude with a procession through the Paseo Cívico de Tacna at 6:00 p.m.
