Latin rite metropolitan archdiocese on Peru's northern coast, erected in 1577 as the Diocese of Trujillo and elevated to metropolitan rank in 1943. Its mother church is the Cathedral Basilica of St. Mary in Trujillo, and its suffragans include Cajamarca, Chimbote, Huaraz, Huari, Huamachuco and Moyobamba. Archbishop Gilberto Alfredo Vizcarra Mori, S.J., was appointed 11 February 2025.

Peruvian Episcopal Conference presents five pastoral subsidies for Pope Leo XIV's visit
The Peruvian Episcopal Conference has released five pastoral guides to help communities, families, and young people prepare spiritually for the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV. The Pope is scheduled to visit Peru from November 11 to 16. Monsignor Guillermo Inca Pereda, the national coordinator for the visit, presented the materials, which are intended for priests, families, youth, parish communities, and the general public. The guides are available in both digital and printed formats to support religious celebrations, community reflection, and family prayer. Monsignor Carlos Garcia Camader, president of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference, noted that the visit is especially meaningful because the Pope previously served in Peru during his years of pastoral ministry.
