History
Established in 1853, the Eparchy of Lugoj is part of the Romanian Greek Catholic Church, an Eastern Catholic particular church in full communion with the Holy See; an eparchy corresponds to a diocese in the Latin Church. Its services follow the Byzantine Rite in Romanian. A suffragan of the Major Archeparchy of Făgăraș and Alba Iulia, the eparchy has its cathedral, the Cathedral of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, in the city of Lugoj, Romania. Călin Ioan Bot is the current eparch.
