Archdiocese of Trento

History

Named for its Alpine Italian see city of Trento (Tr(i)ent), in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, the Archdiocese of Trento (Latin: Archidioecesis Tridentina, German Trient) is a Latin Metropolitan archdiocese of the Catholic Church in the Triveneto. The archbishop's throne stands in the Minor basilica Cattedrale di S. Vigilio Vescovo in Trento, and the diocese counts two further minor basilicas, the Basilica S. Maria Maggiore in the city of Trento and the Basilica di Ss. Sisinio, Martirio e Alessandro at Sanzeno.

• Arcbishop Lauro Tisi attends meeting of public administrators

  Archbishop Lauro Tisi attended a meeting for public administrators in Montagnaga to discuss ethics and political service. The gathering brought together mayors and council members from various municipalities and valley communities for a period of spiritual reflection. The meeting was organized by Alessandro Santuari, the mayor of Baselga di Pinè, and Francesco Fantini, the mayor of Bedollo. These leaders established the initiative following last year's Jubilee of Public Administrators at the sanctuary in Pinè to create regular opportunities for reflection. During the event, Archbishop Tisi noted that the meeting was significant because it was organized spontaneously by the administrators themselves rather than being directed by the diocese. He observed that the initiative comes at a time when many principles intended to guide political engagement appear to be failing. Rocco D’Ambrosio, a professor of political ethics at the Pontifical Gregorian University, also spoke to the group regarding ethical approaches to political service.
