History

Declared in its present form on November 24, 1960, the diocese of Cần Thơ (Latin: Dioecesis Canthoënsis) spans 13,257 km2 (5,119 sq mi) of Vietnam as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh city. Its cathedral is Sacred Heart Cathedral in Cần Thơ. By 2004 the diocese counted about 176,424 believers (3% of the population), served by 153 priests across 131 parishes.
