History

Declared in its present form on November 24, 1960, the Latin Catholic diocese of Long Xuyên (Latin: Dioecesis Longxuyensis) covers 10,243 km² as a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh city. Queen of Peace Cathedral in Long Xuyên town serves as its cathedral. By 2016 the diocese counted about 247,000 believers (5.9% of the population), 275 priests, and 186 parishes. Joseph Trần Văn Toản has been its bishop since 2019.
