The Latin rite Diocese of Vinh in north-central Vietnam was erected as the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Tonkin on 27 March 1846 and elevated to a diocese on 24 November 1960, today covering Nghe An Province after the 2018 split of Ha Tinh. A suffragan of the Archdiocese of Hanoi, its cathedral is Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral at Xa Doai.

History
Central Vietnam is home to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Vinh (Latin: Dioecesis Vinhensis), a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Hanoi extending across 16,499 km2. Its cathedral is Assumption Cathedral at Xã Đoài in Nghi Diên commune. The Most Reverend Alphonse Nguyễn Hữu Long received his appointment as bishop on December 22, 2018.
