The Diocese of Alto Valle del Rio Negro in Argentine Patagonia was erected on 22 July 1993 and is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Bahia Blanca. The see was vacant after Bishop Alejandro Pablo Benna was transferred to Moron in 2025, with Oscar Eduardo Minarro named apostolic administrator.
