The Diocese of Temuco is a Latin Church diocese in the Araucanía Region of southern Chile, suffragan to the Archdiocese of Concepción. It was promoted to diocese status on 18 October 1925 and its cathedral is dedicated to Saint Joseph.

History

From its seat in Temuco, this diocese (Latin: Temucen(sis)) shares the ecclesiastical government of Chile's Araucanía Region with the Diocese of Villarrica, its territory taking in the whole Province of Malleco and part of the Province of Cautín. It covers in full the communes of Perquenco, Galvarino, Cholchol and Temuco, along with most of Lautaro, Nueva Imperial and Carahue. The see is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Concepción and currently administers the Temuco Catholic University.
