Pope Leo XIV calls for joint Catholic-Lutheran preparation for 2030

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Pope Leo XIV has called on Catholics and Lutherans to prepare together for the 500th anniversary of the Augsburg Confession in 2030. During an audience with representatives from the Lutheran World Federation on October 1, the Pope encouraged both groups and theologians specifically to return to their common roots.

The Pope expressed hope that the 2030 anniversary would provide new energy and joy as a step toward full and visible unity.
