Benedictine Brothers receive Ministries of Lector and Acolyte
Abbot John Pereira OSB conferred the ministries of lector and acolyte upon Benedictine brothers Yannick Kabi OSB and Samuel Muhindo OSB during a Mass at the Abbey Church at Mount St Benedict on Monday, October 12.
The ceremony serves as the first formal liturgical stage in the process to make the solemnly professed monks eligible for priesthood ordination. During the service, the brothers received a Bible and the vessel containing bread for the Eucharist to symbolize their new commissions to proclaim the Word and share the sacrament.
