God Calls Us’ — discovering our vocation

Desirée Sammy, the official multimedia journalist and faith communicator for the Archdiocese of Port of Spain, is participating in preparation sessions for World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul, South Korea.

Over the last three months, Sammy and her group have attended sessions designed to deepen their understanding of vocation and recognize God's purpose for their lives. Sammy noted that these reflections are based on a 2024 message from Pope Francis for the 61st World Day of Prayer for Vocations, which states that God calls every person to participate in His plan of love.

Sammy explained that the sessions taught her that vocation extends beyond becoming a priest, religious sister, or brother. She identified three central questions from the program: understanding who she is as a person created by God, recognizing the specific gifts and talents God has given her, and determining how to use those strengths to serve others.
