Headmaster Andrew Lang said Blessed Fulton Sheen is central to the spirituality of Holy Spirit Academy in Monticello. Speaking on the Relevant Radio program Practicing Catholic, Lang noted that the school's founders were deeply influenced by Sheen's writings.

Lang explained that the school follows Sheen's concept of educating the whole person by forming the will through virtue. As an independent private Catholic high school serving the northwest metro of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, the school uses its independence to embrace specific spiritual charisms.
